Nerissa B. Modern Calligraphy is a calligraphy and hand lettering studio in downtown Chicago, serving clients in the Chicagoland area and beyond.

Every couple has their own unique style, and I’m passionate about helping them convey it wherever calligraphy can make an impression: invitations, save-the-dates, place cards, signage, vows and more.

A touch of modernity is at the heart of my lettering, which I use to complement a variety of styles: romantic, elegant, whimsical, fun—even formal and traditional. Whatever the style, it’s all done by hand, and done with love.

My approach: When I write, I envision what the handwritten pieces mean to my clients and their guests. I picture them receiving their invites in the mail, and not only being excited to receive that invite, but to see their names written in a way that says, “This is special, and we want you to be a part of it.” For me, calligraphy is more than pretty penmanship. It is an expression of love, lettered. I look forward to creating an expression for you!
