Devon & Ben’s World’s Fair Era Wedding
When Devon first introduced herself to Ben at work, Ben was immediately intrigued. Ben grew up in Devon, England, which is the very place Devon was named after. He knew there was something special there, and after their first real conversations, he felt sure that she was “the one.” Fortunately for him, Devon felt the same way.
Chicago played such a big part in the pair’s relationship — it’s where they met, dated and fell in love. So naturally, the city was cast as a crucial character on their wedding day. World’s Fair Era Chicago was the main inspiration behind their planning. While the couple wanted a retro speakeasy vibe, they didn’t want to take away from the natural beauty of the city. To let the city speak for itself, they kept their color palette neutral with black, muted fall and sand tones, and champagne.
Their ceremony on the Odyssey Chicago River gave guests a glimpse into the magic of the city, skyscrapers and all. Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Mid-America Club, located on the 80th floor of the AON Center. Needless to say, the views were priceless and wholly “Chicago.”
With most of the reception’s decor being moody, their bright dance floor was an attention grabber. This large, monogrammed dance floor created a stark contrast to the rest of the decor, which thus served as a beacon to get guests gathered and dancing. There was nothing quite like celebrating the night away from 80 stories above the city Devon and Ben so love.
