Tamera & Sam’s Regal Haley Mansion Wedding

On an August afternoon at Joliet’s historic Haley Mansion, Tamera and Sam hosted a romantic, regal wedding full of love.

Tamera and Sam grew up as neighbors in Bolingbrook, IL for 13 years, but they didn’t get to know each other until fate intervened in 2018. After Tamera graduated college, Sam reached out to her through social media, and they started a lifelong journey together.

Not long after they met, Tamera joined the Army and took off for a year of training. Then after training, Tamera left again to pursue her Master of Health Administration at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. While distance defined much of their relationship, a strong bond knows no boundaries! Now, Tamera enjoys a career in law enforcement, and Sam is a professional musician, producer, and artist.

As with any wedding celebration, choosing the perfect venue was a priority for this couple. “I always wanted a garden wedding with a castle feel and the Haley Mansion gave just that,” says the bride. Upon their first site visit, the venue captured their hearts. Despite a setback in February 2023, when The Haley Mansion faced a fire, Tamera and Sam were still determined to have their dream wedding at this enchanting location.

Their love story, filled with unique backgrounds – Sam being Polish and African American, and Tamera being Afro-Caribbean – created a tapestry of cultures that is echoed in their wedding celebrations. For the wedding, the couple opted for a regal color scheme of deep red wine, cream/ivory and brown, creating a royal and rich aesthetic. The 4:00 pm ceremony aligned with the perfect sunset time, allowing the vibrant colors to really come alive.

The Haley Mansion’s team played a pivotal role in ensuring every detail of the wedding and reception ran seamlessly. Tamera reflects on their exceptional service, stating, “Everything ran smoothly, and the team was very attentive. If anything went wrong, I had no clue.” This allowed the couple to fully immerse themselves in the joy of their special day.

Tamera and Sam’s story, from Bolingbrook to long-distance to a castle-like mansion, is certainly one fit for royalty.
