Mari & Michael’s Whimsical and Modern Wedding
Mari and Michael celebrated an evening of intimate reflection. Running with a whimsical, modern and completely unique vision, the couple incorporated influences of their favorite artists, vibrant colors and mirrors all about.
When planning, Mari was inspired by two of artist Yayoi Kusama’s works, her Infinity Mirrored Rooms and Narcissus Garden. The use of mirrors and chrome balls served as her interpretation of how Kusama uses repetition of mirrors in her work.
The couple wanted the moonlight that filtered through Morgan Manufacturing’s skylights to reflect onto their mirrored aisle and chuppah in an ethereal way. The chrome spheres and glimmering candles lined the aisle and illuminated statement florals in hues of pink, purple and blue.
In a sea of lush black velvet, vibrant florals and chrome reflections, the bride stood out in a custom Galia Lahav trumpet gown. Originally, the dress was two-toned, but Mari had it customized to be all white to make the gown and bouquet the only white components of the entire wedding.
Adding an extra sweet touch, the bride’s mother surprised the couple with a “human champagne wall,” in which servers stuck their hands through the draping to pass cotton-candy topped champagne flutes to guests.
Ceremony elements seamlessly transitioned into the reception, as floral centerpieces burst like fireworks. The couple and their guests were fueled by this atypical and vibrant surrounding and happily danced the night away until the early hours of 3:30 a.m.
