Choosing Chicagoland as their wedding destination served as a perfect meeting point for the couple’s families and friends. Although they were living in Seattle while planning their wedding, Erin and Ryan opted to host the festivities in the Windy City, near where Erin grew up. With nearly half of their attendees flying in, the couple loved hosting a weekend full of events for their guests. Eaglewood Resort, with its proximity to the airport, became the perfect canvas for the couple’s dream of an elegant and timeless black-and-white wedding.
The wedding day began with emotional first looks and heartfelt moments shared with family and friends. Erin wrote each of her eleven bridesmaids a letter to open on the morning of the wedding. This thoughtful gesture showcased the depth of her connections and the cherished friendships that surrounded her on this special day. While the bride and bridesmaids had a heartfelt morning, Ryan and his groomsmen prepared for the day with laughter and practicing their swing at the resort’s gold simulator. The perfect way to start the festivities!
Intentionality was woven throughout the ceremony. Ryan and Erin’s three grandmothers, although they are in their golden years, danced and shimmered down the aisle as the flower grannies. Under a baby’s breath arch and overlooking Eaglewood Resort’s stunning grounds, Erin and Ryan exchanged vows with joy.
The reception kicked off with a delightful surprise from the couple’s parents—a slideshow featuring treasured moments from Erin and Ryan’s childhoods. The evening then continued with musical performances, including Erin’s Dad and sisters captivating the audience with a guitar rendition of Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl.”
The newlyweds concluded the celebration on the balcony, savoring a nightcap of cigars and champagne—a serene moment to reflect on their journey from Denver to Chicago, and now, onto Nashville. Erin and Ryan’s wedding not only marked the union of two souls but also served as a Chicago homecoming, a reunion of loved ones, and the beginning of a new chapter in their love story.
