Cara, who works in banking, and Sean, an attorney, first crossed paths at the University of Michigan. Their journey, spanning seven years, culminated in a breathtaking wedding on November 11. From capturing photos in the bustling West Loop neighborhood to exchanging vows in the serene halls of St. Michael’s, every moment of Cara and Sean’s wedding day radiated with a blend of modern flair and timeless tradition.
Embracing their contemporary tastes while honoring cherished customs, Cara and Sean crafted a celebration that seamlessly blended modern elegance with classic touches. For instance, marrying in St. Michael’s by Cara’s childhood priest and then transitioning the reception to The Dalcy in West Loop.
The traditional Catholic ceremony included an authentic first look down the aisle, singing from the bride’s cousins and Cara presenting flowers to the Virgin Mary. Then, the reception at The Dalcy continued the overarching theme of modern elegance. A champagne tower heralded the beginning of festivities, accompanied by heartfelt toasts and an Italian blessing passed down through generations.
As the night unfolded, the dance floor came alive, fueled by espresso martinis and music from Bluewater Kings Band. Late-night cravings were satiated with Chicago favorites — Portillo’s hot dogs and Stan’s Donuts, a playful nod to the city they call home.
Even with a 200-person guest list, Cara and Sean created an intimate wedding atmosphere. Marked by nods to tradition and modern twists alike, their union epitomized a classic Chicago wedding.
