Annabel & Thomas’ Vintage Vibes Wedding at the Colvin House
A little rain couldn’t dull the shine of Annabel and Thomas’ Colvin House wedding. With a vintage aesthetic woven throughout their day, handmade design elements and warm hospitality created an event to remember.
From the start, this wedding had a clear point of view. The couple chose Chicago’s storied Colvin House as the backdrop for their celebration and let that guide their following decisions. With its ornate crown molding, dramatic marble fireplace and warm hardwood floors, the venue offered a built-in aesthetic that perfectly matched their vision. Annabel and Thomas even had specific moments in mind long before the big day arrived: a first look on the venue’s grand staircase, and their first dance bathed in the glow of the main room’s chandelier light.
The vibe of the wedding was established to guests early with a colorful and whimsy invitation suite. Invitations and signage felt handwritten in a playful red script, tied together with an oyster motif that reappeared throughout the day. It was personal and a little unexpected — just like the wedding itself.
Florals from Dusk Lily Floral leaned into the vintage mood with lush, textured arrangements of garden blooms in warm pinks, reds and creams, displayed dramatically against the fireplace’s dark marble for the ceremony. Annabel carried a simple bouquet of baby’s breath, nodding to a classic vibe while still feeling fresh. Rows of wooden cross-back chairs adorned with flowing white ribbon sashes completed the ceremony setting for a perfectly romantic setting.
By the end of the night filled with eats from Big Delicious Planet and entertainment from Toast & Jam, the rain was an afterthought. When a wedding is this thoughtfully put together, the weather never really had a say.
