Anastasia & Tommy’s Traditional Greek Wedding at Concorde Banquets
Anastasia and Tommy’s wedding on October 21, 2023, was a splendid celebration of love, tradition and elegance, perfectly capturing the essence of a classic Greek wedding.
This memorable day, marked by sentimental customs and charm, began with a perfect proposal. On a radiant summer day in 2022, Tommy proposed to Anastasia atop the picturesque London House cupola in downtown Chicago. Against the backdrop of the city’s breathtaking skyline, Tommy’s proposal set the stage for the wedding of their dreams.
The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church. The church, resplendent with its rich iconography and sacred atmosphere, provided the perfect setting for their union. Anastasia, a vision of grace and elegance, walked down the aisle in a strapless Mark Ingram Collection gown from Ultimate Bride Chicago. Together in front of their friends and families, the couple took part in a number of Greek traditions, including the lighting of Lambathes (tapered candles the couple holds), the crowning of Stefana, the dance of Isaiah and the common cup.
As the ceremony concluded, guests showered the newlyweds with white rose petals, as Anastasia and Tommy then made their grand exit to their Rolls-Royce getaway car. From here, the couple and their wedding party, comprising 24 members, made their way to the scenic University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary for photographs
The reception at Concorde Banquets in Kildeer, IL, was a spectacular affair. Guests were greeted by a sleek, sophisticated vision in shades of white and crystal, meticulously designed by Tom Manikas of Manikas Designs. The venue was adorned with candelabras, orchid arrangements and mirror details, creating an ambiance of refined luxury.
