Alex & Jake’s Regal, Bilingual Celebration at the InterContinental
Merging royal elegance with the dynamic energy of downtown Chicago, Alexandra (“Alex”) and Jake’s wedding was both regal and grounded. Held at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, their wedding embraced the timeless grandeur of a city steeped in history.
Jake, originally from Ohio, grew up in a close-knit Midwest family, while Alex was raised in Wisconsin with roots in Peru and relatives spread across the globe. The two met in Chicago during their third year of medical school, where study sessions turned into something more. In 2023, Alex introduced Jake to her family in Peru, and shortly after, he proposed back in Chicago. Even while living apart for the past year and a half to complete medical residencies, their relationship has flourished.
The ceremony, held in the King Arthur’s Room, was conducted in both Spanish and English. Surrounded by brilliant stained-glass windows, the bilingual service reflected the merging of their cultures and ensured all guests could share in the moment.
The celebration moved to the Emerald Ballroom for the reception. The historic, warmly lit space was transformed with white florals that complemented the ballroom’s craftsmanship and chandelier. Glowing candlelight and gold accents created a romantic, intimate atmosphere, while their sweetheart table served as the stunning focal point. With the majority of Alex’s family traveling in from Peru, the coupled wanted to make sure they felt at home. As a nod to her heritage, guests were welcomed in with Peru’s signature cocktail, the Pisco Sour. ¡Chin Chin!
Having family members come together after decades apart added a sense of reunion to the day. A particularly memorable moment was Alex’s father’s heartfelt speech officially welcoming Jake into the family, which concluded with a surprise transition into dance. From there, the celebration never slowed. Spark Entertainment kept the energy high with a blend of Latin music, live saxophone and drummers, creating a dance floor that was full until the very end.
The day captured the essence of who Alex and Jake are as a couple: two people deeply in love, joyful and always ready to dance. Their Chicago wedding honored tradition, celebrated culture and marked the start of a beautiful chapter together.
