A Photographer’s Own Wedding: Nichole & Nejat at Cuneo Mansion
When a couple first meets virtually while playing “Call of Duty: Black Ops” on PS4, you know their wedding is bound to be whimsical and one of a kind. After an intimate elopement in Carmel Valley, California, Nichole and Nejat (“NJ”) kept the lovefest going with a local celebration at the historic Cuneo Mansion and Gardens.
Although they had exchanged vows six months earlier, the couple just had to share their joy with the people who meant the most. “I wanted everyone to feel together and close and just feel the room full of love,” Nichole shared. “You only get this moment once in your life.” As a wedding photographer herself (Nichole Babiez Photography), the bride had seen countless weddings, but this one was her turn to do it her way.
Nichole never envisioned herself in a traditional white gown, so she took matters into her own hands and created the dress of her dreams. She partnered with Kelly Szramek of Grace & Lace Bridal to design a custom gown, sweetly adorned with florals and butterflies. Detachable sleeves and a twirl-worthy overskirt added personality, perfectly capturing Nichole’s romantic and floral-forward style, a signature often reflected in her own photography work.
As avid travelers, Nichole and NJ were enchanted by the Cuneo Mansion’s European charm. Its old-world elegance, preserved early 1900s architecture and manicured grounds set the tone for a celebration that felt both elevated and intimate.
From custom guest illustrations to a build-your-own cannoli station, Nichole and NJ’s celebration overflowed with personality. With a flavor of fun that’s contagious, the night left an unshakeable wake of joy.
