A Dream-Come-True Wedding for Alexa & Skyler at Sky on Nine

Illuminated by chandeliers and marquee letters spelling their new last name, Alexa and Skyler’s wedding at Sky on Nine was a perfect blend of timeless elegance and modern luxury.

Despite growing up in different parts of Illinois—Alexa in the Chicago area and Skyler in the small town of Mount Zion—their paths crossed at Illinois State University. A chance encounter at a local bar, Firehouse, sparked a connection. Even after college, when distance threatened to keep them apart, they knew they were meant to be together. After a year of long-distance, Skyler took the leap and moved to Chicago, solidifying their future together.

Alexa and Skyler chose a sentimental venue for their ceremony: St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest, IL. Alexa attended St. Vincent’s from junior kindergarten through eighth grade and met many of her best friends there. As Alexa walked down the aisle surrounded by the echoes of her childhood, this stunning church was the perfect setting for the couple to exchange their vows. It was a full-circle experience, where the place that shaped her early years became the backdrop for one of the most important days of her life.

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to one of Rosemont’s newest and most breathtaking venues, Sky on Nine. Perched on the penthouse level of a hotel (Holiday Inn Express Chicago O’Hare), this venue offers a modern, luxurious space with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame panoramic views of the city. The room was bathed in natural light, and as the sun set, the chandeliers sparkled, creating a magical ambiance for the reception.

Alexa, with the help of her mother, personally curated every detail of the reception, from the flowers and color scheme to the backdrops and place settings. “The most special thing about my wedding is that I picked out every detail myself along with my mom,” the bride shared. Their meticulous planning paid off, as the space was transformed into a dreamlike setting that perfectly reflected the couple’s vision of beauty and excellence.

Their wedding at Sky on Nine was filled with love, laughter, and the kind of magic that only comes from being surrounded by the people who matter most. As Alexa reflected on their wedding, she described it as perfect—a day she would relive in a heartbeat. From the ceremony at her beloved childhood church to the dazzling reception high above the city, every moment celebrating her and Skyler was like a dream come true.
