Susanne Dershaw, owner of Volle’s Bridal & Boutique and Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear, doesn’t just believe in beautiful weddings — she believes in giving back. So when the opportunity arose to partner with Brides Across America again for their “Operation Wedding Gown” initiative, it was a natural fit.
“I have many active military personnel and veterans among my family and close friends,” Susanne shares. “I’ve seen firsthand the incredible sacrifices they make for our country and for the freedoms we all cherish. My gratitude for them and their service is something I feel every single day.”
This November, Volle’s Bridal & Boutique will open its doors to military and first responder brides as part of a nationwide campaign aimed at easing the financial and emotional burden of wedding planning for those who serve. On November 6, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Lake Zurich salon will host a free wedding gown giveaway, offering designer dresses to qualifying brides who have dedicated their lives to protecting and caring for others.
The effort is made possible through a partnership with Brides Across America, a nonprofit that has donated over 25,000 gowns since its founding in 2008. “Together strong is my new mantra,” says Brides Across America founder Heidi Janson. “This is our way to keep us united in love and our way of thanking all of you.”
Susanne echoes that sentiment: “Joining their efforts was a natural fit because giving back is something we truly love to do. But this cause, in particular, holds a special place in my heart.”
Planning a wedding can be daunting. For those who serve our country and communities, it’s an added stress they definitely don’t need. This collaboration between Volle’s Bridal & Boutique and Brides Across America will alleviate that burden, allowing deserving individuals to focus on their love story, not the price tags.
Being able to offer a small token of appreciation through Brides Across America’s mission of providing free wedding gowns to military and first responder brides means a lot to the Volle’s team. “This is truly my way of saying ‘thank you for your service.’” Susanne says. “It’s an honor to play a part in making their wedding dreams a reality, a small gesture to acknowledge the immense debt of gratitude we owe them.”
