Blue Hydrangeas and Waterfront Views: A Shoreacres Wedding for Kylie & Rylan
Kylie and Rylan grew up in neighboring Lake Bluff and Lake Forest, Illinois, and attended the same high school, though they didn’t meet until after college when a mutual friend introduced them. Now based in Milwaukee, they balance careers in medicine and human resources with a shared love of travel, game nights, attending sporting events and discovering new corners of their adopted city.
Ever since she was a little girl, Kylie dreamed of getting married at the same venue where her parents were wed: Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, Illinois. “My parents have shown such a beautiful example of a loving marriage, and starting ours in the same place felt like the best beginning we could ask for,” she said.
With Lake Michigan behind them, Kylie and Rylan’s ceremony took place outdoors, the shoreline stretching wide beyond the altar. The clear blue sky and open horizon carried through to the reception, where a peaked tent gleamed against the bright afternoon light, setting a coastal tone for the celebration.
The couple’s design vision echoed that palette, as if lifted from The Hamptons and welcomed into the Midwest. Monochrome blue hydrangea meadows sat atop textured white linens, while hemstitch napkins, pearl-beaded charger plates and sky velvet chairs completed each table setting.
Inside the clubhouse, the guest book table held a hurricane vase filled with sea glass Kylie and Rylan have collected together over the years. As guests signed their names, the frosted pieces in shades of seafoam and blue sat beside the book, a simple record of the years that led them to this day.
