The Urban Union is a boutique wedding planning and officiant practice based in Chicago, known for ceremonies that stop time, planning that protects your peace, and storytelling that feels like home.

Founded by Joseph Brenckle-Herron, we bring over a decade of experience to every celebration. We blend artistry, logistics, and radical inclusivity into events that are as personal as they are polished. We work with a limited number of clients to ensure each couple receives the care and presence they deserve.

Named one of Chicago’s top wedding planners by Peerspace, we’re proud to offer thoughtful, personalized support. Whether it’s through your ceremony script or your linen choice, we tell your story with every choice we make.

We offer full-service planning, final phase planning, partial planning, custom ceremony writing and officiating, officiant coaching, and hourly consulting. And while hiring a planner is an investment, it can save you thousands through vendor relationships, clear guidance, and fewer costly missteps.

Outside of work, he’s usually traveling or wrangling two very opinionated dogs.
