Elyse and Michael’s Riverfront Elegance at River Roast
Like a love letter to the city that brought them together, Elyse and Michael’s riverfront wedding was graceful, timeless and full of character.
The couple first met in a distinctly Chicago way: at a bar on St. Patrick’s Day. Elyse was visiting from out of state, while Michael, a lifelong Chicagoan, was out celebrating the festivities. It turns out, they had many mutual friends and even attended the same university at the same time, yet never crossed paths. After that March day, they stayed in touch. Eventually, Michael persuaded Elyse to relocate to Chicago and start their life together.
Elyse and Michael’s wedding day began with a ceremony at the historic Holy Name Cathedral. Surrounded by luminous stained glass windows and Gothic Revival details, the service was brimming with love, reverence and tradition.
Everyone knows wedding days can fly by in a blink. So, following the ceremony, Elyse and Michael took a moment for themselves aboard a private cruise with Vintage Yacht Charters. On the Chicago River, they paused to reset and be fully present with one another before the evening’s celebration began.
River Roast, known for its iconic riverfront location, city views and memorable American tavern food, played host to Elyse and Michael’s memorable reception. Starting the party off right, the couple began with a celebratory champagne tower pour on the patio. Indoors, a three-course dinner served inside a chic black-and-white setting followed. The checkered dance floor and canopy-style string lights were oh-so-classic touches. Meanwhile, live band, The Walk-Ins, played the couple’s favorite songs and set the tone for the evening.
The night culminated in an unforgettable dance party. Elyse and Michael’s contagious joy kept the dance floor packed until the very end. Their wedding was a beautiful reflection of the life they’ve built together, with every detail – from the cathedral vows to the riverfront revelry – echoed the elegance that defines their story.
