Audrey & Robert’s Heartfelt Christmas Ritz-Carlton Wedding
Red satin, black velvet and Royal Stewart Tartan set the mood for Audrey and Robert’s festive, Christmas wedding.
Audrey and Robert occasionally spoke of marriage but never made any plans … until Robert was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May of 2019. Their world was transformed as Robert was at Northwestern Memorial Hospital undergoing rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. However, after a long road, Robert celebrated being in the clear in December 2022 with a proposal to Audrey.
In December 2023, Audrey and Robert said their vows at Holy Name Cathedral. The couple wed with a traditional Catholic ceremony before being escorted to their reception in a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.
Audrey and Robert hosted their long-awaited celebration at The Ritz Carlton, just across the street from Northwestern Memorial. Guests were greeted by a three-tier ice sculpture raw bar, passed hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. The reception continued into the Lakeside Room, featuring spectacular views of Lake Michigan, Navy Pier and the hospital room where Robert underwent his stem cell transplant. Celebrating close to the place that gave the groom a second chance felt appropriate. In addition to friends and family, the couple invited Robert’s stem cell transplant team and his stem cell donor. After all, without them, they might not have had this celebration.
From the four-course dinner to dancing to the sounds of Bluewater Kings’ nine-piece band, Audrey and Robert’s day was a luxurious experience. This magical December wedding was a testament to their years of devotion and the delight of living life to its fullest.
