Jewel Tones, Velvet and Animal Prints for Michelle & Shane
After 10 years as a luxury wedding planner at LOLA Event Productions, it’s safe to say Michelle and her partner Shane had dreamt of their own wedding day quite a bit. “We were excited to give our loved ones a taste of what we get to experience on an everyday basis,” says Michelle. So they poured their heart and souls into every detail to ensure the day was nothing less than their wildest dreams.
With the rich jewel tones, velvet and animal prints of the wedding party’s attire setting the tone, Michelle and Shane went on to kick off their wedding with a bang. The couple welcomed their guests into the venue with a pre-ceremony cocktail hour — with the bride and groom themselves as the bartenders! As the couple whipped up signature cocktails and smiled for selfies with their “customers,” any of their pre-wedding nerves were relaxed.
The ceremony took place in the round under a breathtaking floating, floral altar by HMR Designs and Frost. Nodding to their global travels, the aisle was adorned with black and white striped planter boxes inspired by the Colonnes de Buren in Paris and they exchanged vows standing on a rug they’d purchased in Marrakech. Officiated by Michelle’s two brothers, the ceremony included musical vows, a unity cocktail ceremony and so much laughter.
A lively reception ensued, with Mae District’s reception space bursting with color, pattern and texture. “The goal for this space was to make it seem as though we were inviting guests into our home,” says Michelle. From sentimental handwritten escort cards to petite, boozy milkshakes on the dance floor, Michelle and Shane’s celebration was truly one-of-a-kind and entirely theirs.
