Local Love – Gillian & Jeremy at Chevy Chase Country Club
Gillian and Jeremy met as college students attending Indiana University. As they got to know each other, they realized they shared many important values and interests. Their personalities balanced well, with Gillian providing some additional structure and Jeremy bringing a laidback vibe to their relationship. While Gillian was living in Paris for a work assignment, Jeremy surprised her with a dreamy Parisian proposal and she happily said yes!
When it came to planning a wedding, Gillian and Jeremy agreed— it should be elegant and classic. They designed their Big Day around a grey, pale pink and white color palette, making sure to include plenty of flowers and fun touches of Paris throughout the décor, as a nod to their engagement. In the hours before their wedding, Gillian got ready with her bridesmaids at her childhood home. She wanted to be able to take photos in her dress and with her parents in the place where she grew up. Meanwhile, Jeremy prepped for the day with his groomsmen at a nearby hotel.
The couple tied the knot in a traditional Catholic church ceremony with a special addition of a string quartet and a trumpet for the ceremony music. Gillian’s favorite moment of the day came when she walked through the church doors with her dad and saw Jeremy and all their guests while beautiful music played. After they were pronounced “Mr. and Mrs.”, the couple took a party bus with their wedding party to take pictures. Despite temperatures over 100 degrees, they had a blast with their closest friends and fabulous photographers.
At the reception, Gillian and Jeremy surprised guests with an elegantly choreographed dance that they had rehearsed beforehand. Jeremy’s favorite moment came at the reception, when the DJ played “This is Indiana.” “Most people in and at our wedding were IU alums and knew the song, so it got everyone on the dance floor,” Jeremy recalled. The couple agreed that the day flew by, but they truly enjoyed seeing all their planning and hard work come to life.
