Local Love – Megan & Mike at Elements at Water Street

Megan and Mike met as high school students and dated throughout college and a long-distance job separation. Their bond proved unshakable and they knew that they were meant to be together forever. All that was left to do was plan to perfect Big Day!

The couple made sure the entire weekend was centrally located around their venue, Elements at Water Street at Hotel Indigo Naperville Riverwalk. From the rehearsal dinner to the after party, all of the wedding events were within walking distance to the hotel. “We had always dreamed of having a weekend with everyone we love from all different parts of our lives in one place, and that really came true,” Megan remarked.

Megan and Mike’s wedding celebration began with a sentimental ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Megan’s family grew up attending St. John’s, so it was the perfect place to begin her marriage. The couple placed a white rose on the altar to honor the memory of Megan’s mother who had passed away three years earlier. Megan shared that “being home in Naperville, and specifically at St. John’s, really made it feel like my mom was with us.” Mike experienced his favorite moment of the couple’s Big Day when Megan walked down the aisle toward him and he got to see her in her wedding dress for the first time.

The reception was designed around an earth tone color palette, featuring soft neutrals and lots of greenery. The blush and champagne mix-and-match bridesmaids’ dresses fit in perfectly. Since Megan and Mike attended both high school and college together, almost all of their friends know one another. The shared camaraderie really made the day extra special and fun. One of the bride’s favorite moments from the Big Day was circling up with all her friends and family at the end of the reception to sing and dance along to Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” together.
