Local Love – Amy & Bob at Esplanade Lakes by DoubleTree Downers Grove

Amy and Bob first walked down the aisle together at a mutual friends’ wedding. They clicked instantly with a similar sense of humor and genuine love of puns. When it came time to plan their own big day, at the beautiful Esplanade Lakes by Doubletree, even their hashtag, #HappyHealydays, reflected their humor in true pun form. Since the couple planned their wedding so close to Christmas, they allowed themselves to be inspired by the holiday season, but were careful to be tasteful and not overbearing, using the term “elegant holiday.”

The color palette primarily consisted gold and navy blue, including a nod to Notre Dame as their wedding day fell on the anniversary of Bob’s grandpa passing. (He was a huge fan.) Amy stunned in a classic gown with clean lines and illusion lace from Volle’s Bridal, which she paired with a fur shrug for outdoor pictures. Table settings were aglow with golden candelabra. The florals incorporated a myriad of white with greenery, accents of red and navy blue, and a pop of gold. They say, “We explained our vision for florals to Iris from Fragrant Design and she made it come to life even better than what we could have
imagined!”

With a larger wedding party than usual, a total of 27 between siblings and close friends, all of Amy and Bob’s favorite people were involved in the big day, so they reserved time for the wedding party and guests to mingle at Alter Brewing Company. While there, the perfect amount of snow started falling, something they were secretly hoping for. According to the couple, their favorite memory of the day was “having all of our favorite people in one place.”
