Inspiration for a Tuscan Wedding Theme

Evocative of the pale, serene skies of a late summer afternoon in Tuscany, this styled shoot is a unique gem of beauty, tranquility, and timeless Italian details. This Tuscan wedding theme, produced by Molly McKinley Designs and brought to life in the stillness of Summerour Studio — a venue modeled after a rustic, Tuscan villa — this dreamy scene, swathed in a palette of grey, dusty blue, taupe, and peach, will undoubtedly refresh your spirit, delight your eyes and steal your breath away.

Let’s start everything off with this gorgeous behind-the-scenes video from Homestead Society Films!

And now for some loveliness from Rustic White Photography!

Color Story

INSPIRATION
Our inspiration began with a color palette of grey, grey blue, taupe, and peach. We searched for the perfect outdoor venue to compliment our unique combination of summer colors and chose Summerour. Modeled after a Tuscan villa, we were taken with every curated detail from their stunning courtyard to the gorgeous landscaping. The Tuscan culture fit beautifully into our palette and aesthetic, as we’d been exploring using marble as a design focus. A Province of Tuscany, Carrara is well known for the marble they export all over the world. We incorporated marble throughout our details: the invitations, the cake, the stunning solid marble candle holders and floral containers.

THEME
From the soft colors and textures to the relaxed feel of Italy we hoped to infuse into the day, the theme “Tuscan Skies” fit perfectly.

PERFECT FOR
This shoot is perfect for the couple who loves good wine, good books, art museums, old friends, and travel.

WHAT TO WEAR
Carol Hannah designed the stunning bridal gown. Our model’s Badgley Mischka pale grey shoes mimicked the soft textures in the wedding dress. The Modern Gent styled our groom in a khaki suit with a charcoal tie. Our bridesmaid wore Jenny Yoo’s Aidan in Ceil Blue from Fabulous Frocks of Atlanta. Her nude shoes were Michael Kohrs. Jennifer C Nieman provided make up and hair services to keep our bride and maid looking fresh faced throughout the day.

FLOWERS
garden roses, blue tweedia, succulents, blue lisanthus, pear tree blossom, cherry blossom, cream camellia, olive leaf, blue anemones

ITEMS TO INCORPORATE
When replicating this look, reach out to a local vintage rental company, such as Blue Eyed Yonder, to see what unique pieces they have to set your table and seat your guests. Furniture is essential to creating the homey atmosphere you see in this shoot. Nuage Designs provided the perfect textures through specialty linens. Although we purchased these Vietri plates, beautiful chargers and plates can be found at BBJ for a similar style. The atmosphere is so important to your day. Choose a stunning outdoor venue (with, of course, a great rain plan!) to complete the relaxed look and feel.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
This wedding style is perfect for warmer weather. We see it in late spring, summer, or early fall. We’d imagine a couple who chooses this style wants a smaller affair of around 75-100 guests, just their closest family and friends. The feel is intimate and every detail is thought through. The guest’s enjoyment and the atmosphere of the night are the main priorities.

TAKE IT UP A NOTCH
We’d imagine that a couple drawn to this style would write their own vows. Their love for Italian food and culture might inspire them to incorporate a wine ceremony into their service. In addition to an antipasto bar, they could serve caprese salad, focaccia twists, and proscuitto fig crostatas at their cocktail hour. For dinner, their guests might choose between shrimp scampi, tarragon chicken, or steak with salsa verde. The couple may compliment these dishes with a bruschetta, salad, and roasted vegetable bar. This couple enjoys cocktail hour with their guests. Their first dance might be played by a classical guitarist under bistro lights. Their guests could sign a treasured book they found in Italy on their first vacation together. Of course, they spend too much money on good wine. This couple values the handmade. They choose artisan rings, such as the ones you see from Jessie Jordan Jewelry.

SIGNATURE COCKTAIL
An Italian Spritz would be perfect on a day like this…2 to 3 ounces Prosecco or any sparkling wine, 1 1/2 ounces Aperol* (Italian orange liquor), splash of sparkling soda or water, orange slice, and Green Olive (optional).
