Black, Silver and Pearl NYE Wedding at Hotel Baker
Sarah + Jim had the most fun wedding theme — we would have love to been a guest at their Hotel Baker ceremony + reception! Just wait until you browse through the photos Will Chandler at Eivans Photography sent us.
The couple found inspiration from New Year’s Eve, clocks, and the song Be My Forever by Ed Sheeran and Christina Perri. The song lyrics to Be My Forever were incorporated into every aspect of their wedding, even their custom made runner made to look like their scroll-style invitations.
Once considered to be “tag-alongs” with friends, Sarah and Jim met through friends. “From our first date, I knew I wanted to learn more about him and I knew I would end up marrying him,” Sarah says. A wedding planner herself and owner of Sarah Kathleen Events, Jim kept Sarah on her toes, especially when he planned to propose.
The bride says, “Jim thought he’d be sneaky and throw me a surprise birthday party/proposal. He invited all of our friends and family, even some from out of state. He also made “top secret” invitations with a code that the guests could crack to find out it was a proposal. I thought we were going to dinner but we walked in and everyone was there in front of me! I thought it was for my birthday and was a little confused until Jim got down on one knee.”
Over 120 guests helped Sarah and Jim tie the knot and ring in 2017. Glass candle holders and tall flower arrangements from Flowers by Jen lined the ceremony aisle. To tie the wedding theme together, clocks were incorporated throughout their reception décor. From a tilted clock on top of the cake designed by Oak Mill Bakery counting down to midnight to clocks on the menu and invitations from Indian Wedding Card, everyone waited for it to strike twelve.
For their reception decor, Hotel Baker was decorated with tall black candlesticks with wedding flowers and candles on top, surrounded by vases with floating candles and black and frosted glass candle holders. “We used ribbon curls instead of petals because it added a New Years flair,” Sarah says.
The bride was ready for a party in her strapless David’s Bridal gown with bow-tie back. She wore natural makeup with red lips with the help of makeup artist Breeauna Marie Bruce. To complete the look, Tatiana Zaranti styled the bride’s hair.
The groom + groomsmen wore black from Men’s Wearhouse and bridesmaids wore different dresses from Von Maur and Rent the Runway.

~ Honeymooning in Riviera Maya ~
“Our honeymoon was amazing,” the bride says. “We enjoyed it so much, we are already planning our return trip. El Dorado Royale is an all inclusive, adults only resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The best part is that it’s a Gourmet Inclusive resort, which means the food is phenomenal. We can’t wait to go back!”
