Couples looking to host a wedding in the Chicagoland area have countless options to choose from. What makes The Barn at Allen Acres so unique?

The Barn at Allen Acres hosts one wedding a week, and we love helping our couples create their vision for their wedding event. The rental of the property is a weekend rental, which means that unlike at other properties, couples get to enjoy the venue from Friday through Sunday. They love staying in the farmhouse and have easy and continual access to the barn, gazebo, and fire pit. They have ample time not only to set up and enjoy the farm with their family and friends, but also to hopefully relax a little. When it comes to creating their “wedding team”, couples are welcome to use vendors of their choosing and while we don’t have a preferred vendor list, we’re more than happy to recommend vendors who we’ve worked with in the past that have done an amazing job. We also include all of our “props” into the price of the venue, so the quoted price does not change.

A: We host one wedding a week. We love helping our couples create their vision for their wedding event. The rental of the property is a weekend rental (Friday through Sunday). Couples enjoy staying in the farmhouse on the property with easy and continual access to the barn, gazebo and fire pit. This gives them ample time to set up and enjoy the farm with their family and friends. And….hopefully relax a little. You are also welcome to use vendors of your choice. We do not have a preferred vendor list, but we do have vendors we’ve worked with in the past who have done a great job. Ask us for recommendations. We also include all of our props into the price of the venue. The quoted price does not change. There are no upcharges or hidden extra charges.. Q: How is The Barn at Allen Acres adaptable (essentially, what features enable your venue to make all different kinds of couples happy)? A: The farm has a variety of option for a ceremony, indoor and outdoor. The second floor of the barn has a stunning 26 foot vaulted ceiling with a capacity of 200 people. An outdoor wedding on the grass with the corn and bean field as a backdrop is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. We also have a Rustic Gazebo which is made completely of barn wood that has featured very unique wedding ceremonies. The bottom floor of the barn has a capacity of 173 people and has also been used for wedding ceremonies. With it’s exposed beams and rustic charm it creates a stunning setting. Our new addition this year will have a deck off of the back of the large barn creating another option for a wedding ceremony as well as more space for guests at your reception. The bottom floor of the new addition will have a capacity of over 300 people and will have two sets of large large barn doors on each side and on the end that can be opened for good weather and closed for not so good weather. An elevator is being added for handicap accessibility. Small weddings or large weddings can be accommodated at The Barn at Allen Acres. Q: What about the size of events? How does The Barn at Allen Acres cater to small, intimate weddings vs. big, boisterous ones? (Include what spaces you have to offer, how many people they fit, etc.) A: Q: Why does The Barn at Allen Acres enjoy hosting weddings? A: We love helping all the couples who will be married at the farm create a wedding weekend that is uniquely them. For me personally….it’s a gift that so many people are enjoying my childhood home. I loved growing up on the farm and feel blessed that it will be a part of so many people’s memories. Q: What are your tips for couples who are just starting the wedding planning process, especially those who are still trying to pick a venue? A: Write down all of the things that you’d like your venue to have Go ahead dream! Once it’s on paper….. prioritize, take the top 5 most important things you can’t live without, and start there. The rest will fall in place. Get as much information as possible before visiting venues. Look at pictures on their website Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, twitter along with any other social media outlets they are on. Read testimonials. When you’re ready to visit a venue, notice how accommodating they are. Ask questions. If your question is important to you….it should be important to the representative of the venue. Remember that this is probably your first time going through the wedding process….the representatives of the venue go through the wedding process quite often. Use them as a resource. Ask how other couples have set up. What about parking? Hotels? Shuttles? Local entertainment? Etc.

If a question is important to you, it should be important to the representatives of the venue as well.  It’s also important to keep in mind that while this is probably your first time going through the wedding process, the venue staff goes through the process constantly. Use them as a resource and ask them how other couples have done things in the past.
