Stella & Matthew

Stella and Matthew met through and after hitting it off, the pair decided to go on a date. “Due to work, weather, and a flat tire, I was two and half hours late to the date but he waited!” Stella shared. “I remember feeling like it was the best first date I’d ever been on – we instantly connected.” A year and a half later, Matthew proposed to Stella in a pumpkin patch. Stella was so excited that she told him to stand back up and said yes before he even asked her to marry him. “We were so wrapped up in the moment that we left without our pumpkins,” the couple joked.

Matthew and Stella held a Greek-Orthodox ceremony at St. Haralambos that included a crowning by their kombara, circling the altar, the Dance of Isaiah, and
bountiful friends and family. Following the ceremony, the couple climbed aboard a party bus and headed to the Hyatt Lodge where they enjoyed a reception full of gorgeous enchanted forest décor. “When we walked in, we were blown away,” the couple said. “Kensington Florals and Events truly captured the essence of our theme to a tee!”

In addition to their breathtaking décor, one of the elements of Matthew and Stella’s wedding that made their celebration especially unique was their series of homages to Stella’s Greek roots. The bride wore her Yiayia’s blue diamond ring and wrote the names of all her single bridesmaids on the bottom of her shoes (it’s said that the first name to rub off will get married next). The couple served a traditional koufeta at the reception to symbolize their values and new bond, and Stella’s family fanned money over the couple as they danced to traditional Greek songs and spent the night on the dance floor with their loved ones. “People warned us of how fast the wedding flies by,” the couple said. “It truly did!”
