Kathleen & Conor

Kathleen and Conor first met at Fenwick High School, where they began a relationship that started off as a friendship and eventually became more. “We love Chicago and we wanted to show it off,” the couple said when asked why they decided to get married in the Windy City. The pair held their ceremony at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park, where Kathleen teaches fourth grade, and over fifty of her current and former students were in the audience to watch her say “I do”. Afterwards, the newlyweds took pictures with Kathleen’s students on the playground and then headed to Hotel Allegro for their reception.

Kathleen and Conor both agreed that Hotel Allegro “embodied everything we wanted on our wedding day and more.” In a nod to Conor’s grandpa and Kathleen’s dad, the couple served Manhattans and treated their guests to unique views of the L as it raced past the windows of Hotel Allegro’s Walnut Ballroom. The couple had their first dance to “Rose of My Heart” by Johnny Cash and then spent the rest of the evening dancing with their guests. As for the décor? “We have zero artistic talent,” the couple joked, “but we come from very artistic families. Conor’s mom created custom pen-and-ink drawings for our centerpieces and Kathleen’s sisters designed our wedding logo!”

When asked about her favorite memory from her wedding day, Kathleen couldn’t choose only one moment. “I had two favorites,” she admitted. “The first was our first look. Conor and I had a few minutes to let it soak in that we were finally getting married, and we were so excited, happy, and ready!” Her second favorite memory was the trolley ride from the church to Hotel Allegro. Surrounded by her and Conor’s siblings, parents, and close friends, Kathleen remembered looking around the trolley and thinking “This is the best.”
