Jen and Josh got to know each other after Jen’s stepbrother urged them to meet up. “We’d been in the same circles of friends back in Ohio, but we didn’t get to know each other until we both moved to Naperville,” Jen said. “He was living two blocks from my house. It was fate!”
Jen and Josh decided to get married on New Year’s Eve with a Gatsby-style wedding, and the couple began their day with a first look that included their loved ones. “I rode the elevator down to the lobby and when the doors opened, Josh was standing there,” Jen said. “Our family and friends were all standing behind him and the immediate outpouring of love made all our nervousness go away.”
Upon arriving at Stan Mansion, guests were greeted with a huge antipasto display that featured the couple’s favorite meats and cheeses. After a little snacking, guests were handed champagne flutes and ushered into the ceremony. There, surrounded by their guests and their dogs, Jen and Josh got married in an emotional ceremony that featured live piano and trumpet music. “I don’t think we stopped laughing and smiling throughout the entire ceremony,” the couple said.
Afterwards, Jen and Josh surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance then enjoyed their art-deco reception. Gold centerpieces with white hydrangeas and green amaranths set the mood at the head table while the rest of the room featured jewel-tone florals and elegant feathers. All in all, the couple couldn’t have been happier with their wedding day. As for advice? “Just let the small things go,” Jen suggested. “You only have so much time to have all the people you love in one place!”
