Andy, on how they met…

“We met through OK Cupid. Gabby moved from Boston to Chicago to start a grad school program at Northwestern. Within a week of her moving, I messaged her about hockey and moving to Chicago. We met for the first time on July 10 outside Wrigley Field. We spent the good part of the day seeing the touristy sites: Millennium Park, Grant Park and finished with Gabby’s first 312 beer!”

Gabby and Andy, on how they knew they were perfect for each other…

“When we first met, we both almost immediately felt comfortable with each other, as if we have known each other previously. It felt like almost like a reunion.”

Gabby and Andy, on why they tied the knot in Chicago…

“Gabby’s family is originally from Cleveland while Andy’s family is mostly in Chicago; however, Gabby’s family is more spread out over the country now. The most important thing for her was to have the winter wedding, so it made sense to keep it in Chicago!”

Gabby and Andy, on what made their wedding so unique…

“We got married at the Armour House in Lake Forest. Once Gabby was ready, Andy was escorted by a photographer assistant to the front entrance of the Armour House. After a moment, he felt someone poke his shoulder, turn around and saw his bride. We took our first look picture outside in the beautiful snow!”

“…The rabbi arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony and we signed the Ketubah. For the next 10-15 minutes, we felt excited and nervous. Guest started to arrive and enjoyed some pre-ceremony hot apple cider to warm up!”

“…Then, we lined up to start the ceremony. Seeing all family and friends at the ceremony felt amazing. Once Gabby got to the chupah, the rabbi whispered “Let’s have some fun.” I think that helped us relax. Following the ceremony, we had a chance to be in a separate room to be alone before the craziness to follow.”

Andy, on his favorite memory from his wedding…

“Walking down the aisle and seeing EVERYONE. It was surreal. I couldn’t stop turning and waving at people. I watched a video someone took of me walking down, and I guess I rushed down the aisle. It was so exciting!”

Gabby, on her favorite memory from her wedding day…

“I loved greeting everyone after the ceremony, I felt so happy and relaxed once we started our cocktail hour. I also love the after party at our hotel. The official wedding was over and it was nice hanging out with everyone. I will always remember eating pizza and drinking beers in my fancy wedding dress! It was awesome.”

“The reception felt like a house party, with different groups of people collecting on the dance floor or relaxing by the fireplace in the library.  To this day, people say how fun our wedding was and they want to model their weddings after ours…”

“…The reception was incredible, with great music, dancing and fun with all of our loved ones.  We had a blast and even had a s’mores bar for dessert!” ”
