Corinne and Rob’s laidback wedding at Prairie Street Brewhouse was an affair to remember. All photos by C. Tyson Photography.

Corinne, on how she and Rob met…  “Rob and I met at work.  He has been working at Scot Forge for 12 years and when I first started 5 years ago there was an instant attraction between the two of us. He asked me out multiple times and for whatever the circumstance was at that point, I had to rejected his advances. It finally worked out when I was available to ask him out for a drink.  He happily accepted the request and it was history from there!”

Corinne, on how she and Rob knew they were perfect for each other…

“He has a German Shepard named Oliver and I have a French Bulldog named Olive… Oliver and Olive… what are the chances? It had to be fate…”

“…All joking aside, we knew we were perfect for one another the more and more we learned about each other.  His strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa.  We are opposites but complement each other very well.  I’m a better person with him as my other half.  I’m a notorious planner. He loves to go with whatever is going on.  He’s great at negotiating and handling tough situations, I’m more timid when it comes to those things so we each are crucial for certain aspects of the relationship.”

Rob and Corinne, on getting married in Chicago…  “We grew up in the area so we were partial to staying close for family and friends to attend.  We knew we wanted to have our wedding in a brewery and loved the industrial/rustic environment.  Coming across the Brewhouse was a great find and exactly what we were looking for our wedding.”

Corinne, on friends, family, and prepping for her Big day…  “Our wedding party was unique to begin with.  I have a close college roommate that was my bridesman and Rob had a close childhood friend as a groomswoman.  It worked out perfectly! For getting ready, we enjoyed Beermosas while getting our hair and makeup done at Lucette Salon and Spa. It seemed only fitting for our beer themed wedding. We finished getting dressed at the venue, where there were preserved hops hanging from our arbor for the ceremony and placed in all the boutonnieres and bouquets.  We also had the cake designer create hop vines on our cake in place of flowers or ivy.”

Corinne, on her favorite memory from her wedding day…

“Pouring our crystals into the center vessel for our unity ceremony. It didn’t go as smoothly as it should have and at the end I tried to secretly “high five” Rob but everyone still saw it!”

Corinne and Rob, on choosing Prairie Street Brewhouse…   “Not only was our venue amazing looking and fit our style to a T, the beer and food was OUTSTANDING.  Only Child Brewing made a sour beer and that they allowed us to release at our wedding before they did in their own taproom (it was also pink in color).  For food, we decided on a taco bar with all the fixings and a late night tater tot station with beer cheese, chili, sour cream, etc.  What goes better with great beer than great tacos?!”

Rob, on his favorite memories from his wedding day…   “One of my groomsmen brought cigars for my side of the bridal party. We were able to take some time outside to enjoy them on the pier along the water outside the venue. Also, when we got back from the reception I helped Corinne take the surplus of bobby pins out of her hair at the end of the night. She was so exhausted and just laid her head on my lap while I helped take them all out.  There were so many!”
