Birthdays are usually a pretty big deal, but landmark birthdays, those are HUGE. So it comes as no surprise that Bob Alligood’s surprise eightieth birthday celebration was months in the making. The soirée planned by Fem Event Design went off without a hitch and had friends and family alike talking for weeks after. The New Orleans themed party was held in a private room at the The Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island. A palm-reader, mime and brass band entertained the two-hundred guests and kicked off the cocktail hour. A four course dinner of fried green tomato salad, turtle soup, and beef tenderloin complemented by smooth jazz followed in the ballroom, converted to a Jazz Nightclub with lavish decor including banquet seating, candlelight, letterpress menus, gold bead chargers, mirror-top tables and customized lighted logos in Bob’s honor. The lighting transformed from champagne to purple to fuchsia as the night went on, glistening off crinkle taffeta linens. Bob presided over the event from a banquet table with his family, soaking in the moments never to be forgotten. This rich celebration is brought to you by Susan Michal Portrait Studio!
