Blue, Purple and White “Jeans and Jewels” Bat Mitzvah
Hurry and get ready, because this is one Bat Mitzvah you don’t want to be late for! The dress code, you ask? “Jeans and Jewels.” Yup, you heard me! Because Mira’s laid-back family still loves to glam it up for big occasions, her Bat Mitzvah celebration at The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center was an impeccable blend of cool and casual with sparkling style! Guests garbed in comfortable jeans entered the party through a shimmering glass-bead curtain to find a space flooded with bright, jewel-toned decor, from the uplighting in the lounge area to the rich floral centerpieces in the ballroom. After crafting two new pieces of bling at the jewelry station — including zipper bracelets and bottle cap necklaces — each kid raced to the buffet of Asian and Mexican cuisine — Mira’s favorites — to enjoy tacos, quesadillas, and fried rice before hitting the dance floor with Dance Trax Productions. This gem of a celebration by JA Special Events was captured by Brinton Studios!
Was there a specific theme or style?
It was a dinner/dance with the theme “Jeans and Jewels.”
What were your playful twists that made the event unique?
The make your own jewelry station was a huge hit with kids and adults alike.
Did you DIY any of the details?
No, but my awesome Event Planner, Jessica Adler, created MANY of the items that made the event gorgeous, unique, and very “Mira.” Our invites person, Annie Harmon (who owns her own business) made all the printed materials with lots of input from us (including Mira) and made all the items just right with the theme!
Tell us about the food and desserts.
The kids buffets (dinner and dessert) were designed by the Bat Mitzvah girl. She loves Asian and Mexican cuisine, so there was fried tofu, fried rice, make your own tacos and quesadillas. They also had a make-your-own-sundae bar for dessert. The kids loved their own food! The adults were served dinner including a filet/salmon duet with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. Desserts were seasonal (apple/pear crisp) and a chocolate bread pudding. The Inverness did a great job with the quality of the food…and we heard so many compliments.
What kind of energy did your entertainment give the event?
They made the dinner/dance a huge, energetic hit. Jessica and her team made the room so gorgeous, bright (jewel tones) and festive, and the DJs/Dancers from DanceTrax just took it from there. There was never a dull moment, and everyone danced until we shut it down at 11pm! They know our daughter, so they treated her like family.
What was the most memorable moment?
The Bat Mitzvah girl being hoisted in the ceremonial chair dance. She had her hands up in the air with a huge smile on her face while almost 200 people danced in circles around her. We will never forget that! Also, Mitch (Dad) created an amazing slideshow (4 minutes long) with music that moved all of us. It was fabulous.
