Local Love: Vincenzo & Rose at Abbey Farms

Rose and Vincent said “I do” outdoors at the Pottawatamie Park Pavilion and then celebrated late into the night at the Emporium at Abbey FarmsAll photos by Alicia’s Photography.

Vincenzo, on meeting Rose…

“Rose and I were introduced by her cousin Ed, who worked at our family Pizzeria in Franklin Park. For months Ed talked to me about Rose, and how he thought we would be perfect for each other. He made it all happen by “suggesting” us as friends on Facebook. At the time, I thought it was Rose who friend requested me, so I accepted right away only to find out a few years later Ed was up to his sneaky ways.  Without Ed’s intuition, our lives may have never crossed paths! From the moment I began talking to Rose, I had this feeling that she was different, and all those feelings grew stronger once we finally met. She was someone I saw myself with for the rest of my life.”

Rose, on her perfect wedding day…

“Our ceremony took place inside a beautifully designed pavilion with hints of vintage flair. We said our “I do’s” with the sun shining down and a mild breeze, all the while surrounded by pure bliss. Once we were officially husband and wife we closed our ceremony with a dove release. We were in awe at how mesmerizing it was to each hold a dove and release them at the same time to signify our new beginning.

Our reception at The Emporium at Abbey Farms had a vintage chic look to it, a lot of lace and pearl accents. Our colors were dusty rose, light grey, ivory and hints of gold. It created such a warm, elegant feeling. Vincenzo and I made a lot of the décor ourselves and put our own ideas into everything. Instead of doing traditional wedding favors, we made donations to The American Heart Association and Donate Life America in memory of our loved ones. To show our appreciation we gave each guest a heart shaped cork coaster with the word “love” on it.

Walking into our grand entrance was something we will never forget. Before we stepped out from behind the curtain all we could hear was endless cheering. Our other favorite memory is of our first dance. For that moment it was only he and I in the room that was filled with close to 300 guests. We danced to “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Ray, which we’d chosen to be our wedding song long before we were even engaged!”
