In Good Times & Bad

Paloma and Alberto met in 2006, while sharing their passion for politics and the city of Chicago. While working hard to make their beloved city a better place, they fell in love. A few years later, Alberto organized a grand birthday party for Paloma. “He invited all of our friends,” describes Paloma. “During the celebration, when I finished blowing out the candles, he got down on his knees and proposed to me as everyone was clapping and laughing.”

Although Paloma and Alberto wanted to marry as soon as possible, they were met with many obstacles. Paloma was diagnosed with breast cancer and with Alberto’s help, overcame her illness. A year later, Alberto was involved in a serious, life-changing car accident. To make matters worse, Alberto’s house caught fire. “Through strife and struggle, the love that we shared overcame all those obstacles.”

When the couple was finally ready to exchange vows, they entered a contest at Stan Mansion for a memorable Valentine’s Day wedding. To their delight, they won. They had three weeks to organize their wedding. With all details attended to, family and friends gathered for an intimate ceremony filled with music, dancing, elegance and plenty of love.

As Paloma walked down the aisle she remembers thinking, “I felt like he was the man God sent for me to spend the rest of my life with.” Alberto adds, “Everything was special. It was a day I will never forget.”
