A Dream Come True

Two girls walk into a bar…sounds like the beginning of a classic joke, but it was actually the start of a beautiful love story. One of these girls was Deidra. She was celebrating the end of a tough semester with her best friend, who noticed there was “only one cute guy in the bar.” Gabriel, that “cute guy,” made it a point to meet Deidra. From enjoying cupcakes on their first date to exchanging romantic notes in their shared apartment, Gabriel knew he had found the love of his life and asked Deidra to be his wife.

“We chose to host all of our wedding events at TheWit,” explains Deidra. “Guests never entered the same room twice, and we were able to achieve a novel experience with our ceremony in a ballroom, cocktail hour on The Roof, a bar and photo booth in the Phoenix Lounge and our reception in Cibo Matto.”

“Shivering with nerves” and “bursting with joy,” Deidra married Gabriel surrounded by family, friends and seventeen bridal party members. “With the city of Chicago as our backdrop, we recited original vows, promised all of our tomorrows to each other, and made it official with a kiss.”

Guests sipped cocktails and sampled hors d’oeuvres on The Roof amidst the skyscrapers and stars. A short elevator ride whisked everyone away to celebrate with dinner and dancing. A cupcake tower served as dessert in honor of the couple’s sweet first date. The bride remembers, “We danced the night away and enjoyed every single minute.”
