EIGHT TIPS TO HELP YOU CHOOSE AND SERVE YOUR WEDDING WINE
|
{1}
Knowledge and a little practice
will help raise your vino confidence.
Start sampling more wine at home
and at restaurants. Throw wine
tasting parties or attend wine
events.
{2}
Your tastes overrule the rules. If
you’re serving fish but don’t like
white wine, don’t drink it.
{3}
Look outside the familiar. Sometimes
a more daring pairing will be
a better food match.
{4}
Don’t pick wine by price. Expensive
wine isn’t necessarily better. Let
your palate make the final decision.
{5}
Pronunciation guides—Dolcetto
[dohl-CHEHT-oh]—will prevent
embarrassment and promote
conversation.
{6}
Include a description of each wine
on your menu card. If there’s room
you can even explain why it was
selected.
{7}
If your venue does not offer the
wines you are interested in, ask if
they’ll order them or if you can
purchase them yourself. Note that
wine you bring in may incur a
per-bottle corkage fee.
{8}
Some of your guests may be more
Budweiser than Bordeaux so make
beer and pop available.
