Jennifer and Pete wanted to show their appreciation for their guests in lots of little ways. Since they had three little ones involved in the ceremony—two-year-old Emerson, six-year-old Luke, and four-year-old Amelia—they surprised each child with a bucket full of toys on their seat at the reception. For the adults, there was a martini bar and hand-rolled cigars. For everyone, there was Cold Stone Creamery ice cream waffle cones and a candy station. Even “dancing shoes”—flip flops—were provided. “I had someone tell me that he felt like he was in the audience of Oprah where she gives all of these awesome gifts to her guests that attended the show,” says Jennifer.

CEREMONY St. Alphonsus Church in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. The recently remodeled church has been repainted a stunning blue and gold.

RECEPTION
South Gallery, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, decorated with round paper lanterns in chocolate and purple hanging from the ceiling with lots of candlelight. Tables were square with silver chivari chairs with lilac lamour seat caps.
INVITATIONS Purchased from Hello Lucky of San Francisco, the chocolate and lavender L’Oiseau invitations matched the natural beauty of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
CATERING
Levy Events, Chicago, provided not only a delicious adult menu, but also a second, to tempt the younger guests (fresh fruit kabobs with yogurt dipping sauce, chicken tenders and french fries).
CAKE
A four-tier square cake with two layers of red velvet with white chocolate mousse filling and two layers of vanilla chiffon with strawberry mousse provided by Rolf’s Patisserie, Lincolnwood.
CANDY
Guests were able to fill up Chinese take-out boxes of their favorite candies provided by candywarehouse.com.
